Okijima-cho, Shimane Prefecture / Oki Sake Brewery Co.
Brewing Company
Achievements
- Branding of new products
- Facilitation of trademark and other administrative procedures
- Development of various sales promotion materials for new product release
Thoroughly think through the persona of the new product and define how to reach that persona.
Alcoholic beverages, as you know, are a red ocean with many competing products. It is necessary to get customers to pick up the product amidst not only domestic but also foreign products.
We focused not only on the characteristics of the product itself, such as taste and aroma, but also on the land of Oki Island, where the product was nurtured, and launched the brand “OKIMIKADO” in collaboration with its rich history.
We focused not only on the characteristics of the product itself, such as taste and aroma, but also on the land of Oki Island, where the product was nurtured, and launched the brand “OKIMIKADO” in collaboration with its rich history.
- Premise
- Approximately 20,000 liters of sake inherited from the previous generation was lying dormant in the brewery, and the company was contemplating how to utilize it.
- Bunge’s Role
- We carefully listened to the strengths of this sake and the background behind its preservation to date, and constructed a story that would resonate with customers.
- Outcome
- The product name “OKI MIKADO” was devised by overlaying it on the island’s history, and the name was based on the hope that only when drinking this sake in a stressful society would people relax and feel noble like an emperor.
We not only draft and plan new products, but also handle administrative procedures on behalf of our clients, providing comprehensive support for new product releases.
When releasing a new product, it is necessary to maintain trademarks and patents as well. In particular, as mentioned earlier, there are many precedents for alcoholic beverages, so it is necessary to conduct careful research to avoid duplication of efforts. We worked together with the client to devise a trademark that they really wanted to obtain for their brand under difficult circumstances that might have resulted in rejection of the application.
- Assumptions
- The client was unfamiliar with administrative procedures and busy with his main business of sake brewing, and had no time to devote to this work.
- Bunkei’s role
- He took over all trademark procedures and was responsible for all coordination with the patent office.
- Outcome
- The company successfully completed the trademark procedures and is expected to receive approval in the near future.
Supporting the creation of posters and websites for new products, from photography
We not only took mysterious photos that fit the brand image of “OKI MIKADO,” but also purchased the necessary photos from a photographer we knew.
The design was fashionable and pop-oriented so that young women would be able to pick up the product, even though it was intended to be consumed at a bar due to its aromatic characteristics.
- Assumption
- With the launch of a new product, we needed to create promotional materials for advertising in a way that was consistent with the brand.
- Bunkei’s Role
- With the creation of the website and posters, we shot the photos, drafted the composition, and directed the designers in all aspects of the project.
- Outcome
- The website and posters were created.
Client’s comment
Companies that have commercial materials lying dormant within their company,
Why not consult with Bunkei first?
The longer a company has a history, the more various assets it has, such as those inherited from previous generations. Although they should be converted to cash immediately from a management standpoint, many managers are still pondering how to do so. Buntugi was very helpful in carefully interviewing us about the status of the company and its assets, so we were able to learn about strengths and ways to launch products that we were not aware of ourselves.
